George, Taylor and I stood tall on the top of Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. Though we had a few more days to go, this was the “finale” of our first “Cheap Car Challenge” road trip.
Additionally, the write up for that trip was the first thing I wrote up on Oppo!

Now, five years later, I have a video of that trip that I am happy to share.
A couple of you have seen the old one, which had some serious audio issues and problematic, if amusing, branding. With distance came some trip nostalgia, so I decided to do my best to get the audio tolerable and rebrand to our new “logo.”
Fair warning: With rare exception this is basically home movies with low-to-moderate production values. Watch at your own risk!

I’ll have to watch that last video later. The editing is remarkable as the source footage is definitely not perfect . Though wrangling with some crap footage and trying to make something watchable is a good way to get better at editing. Reminds me of all the effort that went into this:
And as you can see it was just that for some reason the camera settings were weird as this was shot a few months later with the same camera. I wanted to dip my toes into videography but unless I get some better equipment the final product will never quite be up to my standards.
That really is an incredible journey. I know you’ve been talking about doing it again. Any further progress on it?

Thanks! I’ll take a look at those off hours too haha.
Yeah, not sure if you mean the 2021 trip or the stuff we did after this haha. W e did it again in 2017.

And again in 2019, though the video isn’t done for that

We’re working on planning the 2021 trip but this whole pandemic is making that a little more tentative. I think we’re still planning on doing it in about a year, and given the current state of things looking at doing car camping as the main “feature” with maybe some light overlanding thrown in.
